The sun is lying

Well, its quite obvious that my blog has been my stress dumpsite from the past and this is also why there is a sudden post out of the blue... which is just the colour of the sky right outside my window.

"The sun is lying". The weather outside my window is telling me that exam's all done and over, yet, its only been 3 hours since I 'started'. I just sat for the 1st of the 6 papers I'm due to battle in this period of two weeks. Oh well, I'm trying to keep myself alive by thinking of what I'll be doing AFTER I'm done with these pests.

Yet, I digressed, the thing that sparked this post is the weather after all. Its a perfect outback blue sky, and the spring leaves of the magnificent botanical specimen gently caressed by the passing playful zephyr. It's bliss basking under the kind gaze of the eye of heaven, soaking up the warmth.Yet....... I'm stuck here trying to make some sense out of the blardy time series... Downer....

Oh well, rants' over, back to work... chop chop

Random

Recent posts by friends around me have been getting more and more cryptic, or maybe its just me trying to read more than what is written when there really isn't anything more than what was written. Oh well, blame the inquisitive mind (ok lar, I will just admit that I'm 8)...

Anyways, some recent happenings in my life:

I was very blurly and innocently 'elected' as one of the two events manager for MASSUE (Malaysian And Singaporean Student Union of Edinburgh)forgive the website, because I think the webmaster should be doing something about the outdatedness of the site.

The first ever event was the deeparaya that we organised last sunday. the turnout was better than expected and we were worried that food wasnt enough. well, we pulled through, but due to the two days of hard work in the kitchen, I fell sick. we cooked rendang chicken, curry chicken, nasi kunyit, cabbage stir fried in curry powder (it really tastes good) and bubur cha cha. the curries were a bit defect lar, but then we did our best, so no regrets there. the committee was largely  co-operative. hats off to  the two  VP(alvin-also the head chef and tze leong-head of the washing up committee) and also my dear dear  partner, the other events manager,  tze yee. these  people  are the best!!!  Its my happiest time planning and  working on events due to the commitment and professional nature that these people conduct themselves. Kudos to them!

Tracking back in time, I followed the AMS (actuarial mathematics and statistics) department of HW to this 17th century mansion up in Angus county, near Brechin. The place is called The Burn.

The River North Esk runs through the ground of the mansion and boy pictures do no justice to the beauty of the place. The whole weekend was just magnificent. Since it was a traditional trip by the department (they have done this for 26 years and counting), we actually had some stats and actuarial influenced talk over the weekend. It was really an eye-opener!

Resurrection

I think the title speaks for itself pretty much. Been wanting to blog over the 'brought forward "summer" break'... Its kinda complicated with the northern and southern hemisphere having opposing seasons. Basically, to cut the long story short, I'm now in Edinburgh, Scotland and NOT in Sydney. I'm on exchange for a year here in Heriot Watt University.

Ok, so what have I done for the past few months? I mourned for the demise of my exams, but my year was saved by my exchange. It wasn't confirmed till like 26th of July, which was like a few days away from the start of Sem 2 in MQ. So July was a goner perforated with some glimmer of hope and disappointment and loaden with frustration (damn, why can't these people work FASTER?!!!)

Anyways, the exchange got set in stone and I flew back to Malaysia! Ah.... Home Sweet Home. The icing on the cake must be the IMU break which loaned me my best friend! Hehehe... looks like my randomness is starting to spread.... Did some random stuff here and there and all was good. Just that, this time, I lost my tolerance for long pants and jeans in Malaysia. Its a strict NO-NO.... Had some pretty good food... the kon lou pan meen was quite good!

Then, what must come next is my trip down to Singapore. Had a pretty good time there... Let pics speak for themselves I say.

Joyce, Shyan Huey and I at Max Brenner's

The same trio in front of the esplanade

In front of the esplanade

Esplanade, Its supposed to be modeled according to the mic, but no matter that they say, I maintain that it looks like a Nangka! Woohoo

Group shot in front of the esplanade.

The famous Singapore Chilli Crab... It tasted good, but I cannot say that its a must-try...

Drunken Prawn at Jumbo.

Clarke Quay

Clarke Quay again....

Well, I didnt get a pic with Sze Ing, but we are old friends liao lar, so I think the memories and laughter we shared cannot be justified by some mere pictures.

Anyways, I guess the next BIG thing was our trip down to Ampang One Avenue for our Korean dinner. The most eventful happening must be our sudden 'disappearance' act in one of the restaurants after we lost our appetite to the magnanimous menu and lackadaisical attitude of its less than korean hospitality and service.

BUT, we were handsomely rewarded... we finally got into a korean BBQ shop. Mind you, this shop is quite unassuming, but we sort of felt assured and even attracted by the fact that at least 80% of the patrons there are koreans! This place must be really good and value for money right? well, ask these people:

Notice the cokes? well, they were COMPLIMENTARY for we told the boss that we came all the way from PJ and of course, we have nothing but praises for the service and food there...

It was a good meal and boy oh boy, all that food for just RM1x.... I think its pretty value for money. The company and chatter was of course PRICELESS...

Soon after that, I left my dear dear friends and flew for 14 hours to this new new place.... but seriously, this place is gorgeous!!! I just fell in love with the edinburgh city the moment I set my eyes on it! I will dedicate my next post to the places that I have visited here ok? Till then, stay strong my friends!

Irritations...

So the dreaded executions came and passed, so did I survive? I guess not... It was a triple death sentence... hence, now, its death awaiting to see if there is any resurrection... So well, that's the depressing part and so far I've been trying to shut them out of my brain... trying very hard to relax...

I really dont understand... since when relaxing needs a conscious effort?! As I watched some movies after my exam, I still have this nagging guilty feeling and the totally improper and insane 'reminder' that I need to READ my readings!!!

Ok, I have digressed from the title way too much, I just found out that my tolerance for minor irritations are getting way too thin... Its really frustrating, even cackles of delirious laughter (derived from the brainless and idiocy infused television shows) can drive me up the wall! I even started picking on how ridiculous the laughter is and how a person can actually sound so horrid and unpleasant... even normal speech emanating from that voice is intolerable!

The scarier thing is how just a single grain of rice that pollutes the sparkling benchtop can force me to bring forth the worst curse I know! I'm really going out of my mind and somehow forgiveness (not that its needed in the first place, what is wrong with laughing?) dont seem to existent in me anymore.

Its at time like this when I wish was all alone and no sound or person could irritate me. I cannot confront these 'irritants' because its really 'sesame green bean' and I would be deemed 'cari pasal' ing (which I think is warranted), so I can only 'suffer' in silence...

Sheesh... irritants...
